In
a time and age where powerful forces wield sophisticated media
to sway entire countries into war, what should be the reaction
of the artist - the individuals in culture and society who use
image and color, substance and words, sound and technology to
create their own propaganda on a daily basis? How can the creative
class rise above the heap of anonymous, authoritative Others to
disseminate our persuasive points of view? Curator, Daiv Whaley
and newsense enterprises explored this incendiary topic with this
exhibition focusing on the art of propaganda.
Works
for the exhibition explored the subtle yet powerful ways that
mind manipulation shapes our daily perceptions of the world. Propaganda
created for the exhibition dealt with issues pertaining to religion,
politics, ecology, racism, sexism, pop culture, advertising, etc. |
